Nick Canada
Major: Geographical Sciences, w/ a focus in GIS
Nick spent two semesters at Arizona State University and a semester at UMD pursuing Civil Engineering before he discovered the wonderful would of Geographical Sciences, and has since has a hard time deciding if he likes aspects of remote senesing or computer cartography best.
For the past three semesters, Nick has been working for Shuttle_UM, driving buses and dispatching; maybe you've seen him/heard him! Since the beginning of the Summer 2013, Nick has interned for the Gate House Museum of Sykesville in his hometown of Sykesville, Maryland. At the Gate House, Nick is either running the museum himself while it is open on Fridays, working with the curator on developing exhibits, or being a handyman and fixing what he can. With his involvement, the museuem is nearing the unveiling of a new Springfiel State Hospital Center exhibit for which he has been putting his cartography skills to use, creating different map displays. After graduation, Nick plans to work full-time while pursuing his Master of Professional Studies in GIS at UMD.
