Assistant Professor Catherine Nakalembe was honored with the 2024 Early Career Impact Award from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) at the Faculty and Staff Recognition Reception on April 16 in the Prince George's Room of the Stamp Student Union.

Nakalembe's contributions to remote sensing and machine learning to agriculture and food security garnered recognition from a committee of past award recipients, underscoring her dedication and the value her work adds to BSOS.

Expressing her gratitude, Nakalembe stated, "I am deeply honored to be selected as the recipient of the 2024 Early Career Impact Award. Having my work recognized by my colleagues means a great deal to me." She is also thankful for the support and encouragement she received from BSOS throughout her tenure, emphasizing its pivotal role in her professional growth and development.

In addition to being recognized at the event, Nakalembe will receive a monetary award of $1,000 in an upcoming paycheck.

Nakalembe said she pledges to continue her work with renewed passion and commitment, aiming to make a positive impact within her field and the college.

The Department of Geographical Sciences extends its congratulations to Nakalembe on this well-deserved achievement and looks forward to witnessing her continued success in the future.
