American Forests magazine published a feature, titled Eye in the Sky, on Professor Hurtt and Dubayah's carbon monitoring research in their Fall 2018 issue. The article discusses their research which began in 2011 as part of NASA's Carbon Monitoring System where they developed a prototype for measuring and modeling forest carbon in two counties in MD. Currently, they are continuing to expand their prototype to the north eastern United States, including all states in the RGGI+ domain, and a national scale prototype using GEDI data.
