Emeritus Professor, Eric Kasischke was recently congratulated by the Office of Science and Policy – The White House, for his accomplishments as the Terrestrial Ecosystems Collaboration Team leader on the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC). A letter to Dr. Kasischke cosigned by OSTP’s Dr. Jane Lubchenco (Deputy Director for Climate and the Environment), Grace Diana (Acting Executive Secretary, National Science and Technology Council), and Larry Hinzman (Assistant Director Polar Sciences) stated “Your engagement has made a tremendous impact both on IARPC Collaborations as an organization and towards our larger mission: connecting federal government researchers, non-federal researchers, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders to advance our understanding of the Arctic system and how changes in that system are affecting people who live and work in the region.”

Hank Margolis, the Terrestrial Ecosystems Manager at NASA HQ and longtime colleague of Eric, responded “Great to see such well-deserved recognition for your sustained efforts to improve and advance research of northern ecosystems."
