The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) has embarked on an initiative to coordinate, publicize and enhance our efforts to identify, disrupt and prevent anti-Black racism. The initiative's Director, Professor Rashawn Ray in the Department of Sociology, and his team have connected with more than 40 faculty members, staff, and students across the College and the University to establish the BSOS Anti-Black Racism Initiative (ABRI). In the Department of Geographical Sciences, faculty members have joined the initiative to seek answers and action. Matt Hansen (Professor), Alyssa Whitcraft (Assoc Res Professor), and Chris Justice (Chair), are participating in the college's initiative bringing what they learn into our department. The department's  newly formed Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Anti-Racism Committee, currently co-chaired by Matt Hansen and Julie Silva (Assoc Professor), is working to provide guidance, recommendations, and resources to the faculty, staff, and students.
