On Friday October 6th, Dr. Ronald Luna and the undergraduate advising team visited the International High School at Largo as part of their celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Dr. Luna spoke about his journey as an immigrant through the US Education system, eventually earning his PhD in Geography, to over 300 English Language Learner students. After Dr. Luna's speech the students were invited to learn more about the University of Maryland, the Department of Geographical Sciences, and other community resources from Advising Coordinator Amanda Hoffman-Hall, Graduate Assistant Byron Marroquin, Undergraduate GIS Major Carlos Rodriguez, and other community representatives. 

The students were full of ambition and promise. We can't wait for them to apply to be Terps soon! Thank you to the International High School at Largo for having us - go Sea Turtles!
