On May 12th, 2017 six graduate students were presented with the Excellence in Graduate Research Award for the 2016-2017 academic year. The awards were presented by Graduate Director, Dr. Laixiang Sun. 

Recent doctoral graduate Tony (Dong) Chen recieved the first place award for his publications in Remote Sensing of Enviornment and Global Change Biology. 

Recent doctoral graduate Joanne Hall recieved a second place award for her publication in Remote Sensing of Environment and her book chapter publisjed by Springer International Publishing. 

PhD Candidate Wenlu Qi recieved a second place award for her publication in Remote Sensing of Environment..

PhD Student Yanjia Cao recieved a third place award for her publication in Applied Geography. 

PhD Candidate Amanda Hoffman-Hall recieved a third place award for her publication in Environmental Research Letters.

Recent doctoral graduate Praveen Noojipady recieved a third place award for his publication in Environmental Research Letters.
