The Land & Carbon Lab's Summit 2023 took place June 27 to 39 in Brussels, gathering policymakers and practitioners harnessing geospatial data to advance land sustainability solutions.

The conference's agenda featured more than 50 sessions with experts from around the world. Sessions can be viewed here.

Among the experts, Assistant Professor Catherine Nakalembe and Professor Matthew Hansen participated in the "High-level Panel: Beyond the Cutting Edge: New Frontiers in Geospatial Monitoring for Nature, Climate and People" on June 28.

The conversation covered the challenges and opportunities in geospatial data, remote sensing and advancements in computing, technology and AI, the importance of accessible and repeatable monitoring systems, and policy issues. The panelists also stressed the significance of user-centric solutions, capacity building, and partnerships to drive real-world impact in tackling climate and sustainability issues.
