The department of Geographical Sciences is devestated to convey the news that we lost our colleague Alexander (Sasha) Krylov this week (March 15, 2017). 

Sasha graduated from the Moscow State Forest University in 2005. After graduating, he worked for the Russian Forest Health Center, where he focused on remote sensing of natural forest disturbance. Sasha's research was focused on the global and regional forest cover dynamic assessment and Landsat based near real-time forest monitoring. His mind was behind GLAD alerts, which have immensely advanced forest monitoring. He was a great scientist and friend, and will be missed by many.
