On May 12th, 2017 at the Geographical Sciences Awards Luncheon, PhD Candidate Meredith Brown was presented with the O.E Baker Award for Outstanding Performance as a Graduate Student for the 2016-2017 academic year. The award was presented by Graduate Director, Dr. Laixiang Sun. 

Meredith was chosen for this award based on her high quality dissertation research, in addition to her excellent research assistant work in Dr. Shunlin Liang's lab, and her years of service as a member of Graduate Student Government and the Geographical Sciences Graduate Student Organization. Meredith recieved her BS from the University of Washington and MS from the University of Texas. Her dissertation research studies the effects of pollution and cloudiness on pasture and rangleland productivity using satellite remote sensing. She has a black belt in karate and enjoys archery in her spare time.
