PhD students Jiaying He and Dong Chen were awarded travel support to present at the workshop “the Opportunities to Apply Remote Sensing in Boreal/Arctic Wildfire Management and Science”. The workshop is hosted by the Alaska Fire Science Consortium (AFSC) with support from the NASA Applied Sciences Program and will take place in Fairbanks, Alaska on April 4-6, 2017. Jiaying’s presentation is entitled “Lightning Distribution and Wildland Fire Occurrence in Alaskan tundra” and Dong’s presentation is entitled “Fire-induced surface forcing of the Siberian larch forests since 2000 in the context of climate change”.
