On May 12th, 2017 graduate student Yuan Zhou was presented with the Outstanding Graduate Research Assistant Award for the 2016-2017 academic year. Each year, the Department of Geographical Sciences may choose to recognize a Graduate Research Assistant for excellence in research and work towards their funded project through the presentation of this award. The award was presented by Director of Research, Dr. George Hurtt. 

Yuan has a BS in Resources Science and Engineering and an MS in Land Resources Management, both from Beijing Normal University. He is currenly working as a Graduate Research Assistant in Dr. Shunlin Liang's lab.
